Folio. Unpaginated. Original quarter brown leather over orange-red woven cloth boards, spine and front face blind-stamped with vertical title; matching original orange cloth slipcase. Marbled endpapers. Front flyleaf features a cleanly affixed typed dealer catalog label noting copy number 364 of a limited edition of 950. Text block, facsimile title leaves, and individual full-page photographic plates are bright throughout, no toning, minnimal handling marks.

The highly acclaimed 1977 fine press facsimile edition of Ansel Adams's monumental first photographic book, which was originally published in a scant, legendary edition of 108 copies in 1930. Reproductions of Adams's early Southwest masterworks, this edition beautifully replicates the original woodcut decorations by Valenti Angelo and the rigid bookmaking standards of the initial release. Printed by the legendary San Francisco workshop of Lawton and Alfred Kennedy.
