Imperial Household Album Collection — 1974 Edition
Osaka/Kyōto: Sangyō Kurabu-sha, 1974. First Edition.
Large folio (14 x 12 inches). Bound in full deep burgundy leatherette with elaborate gilt floral borders and the Imperial chrysanthemum crest stamped in gilt to the upper cover and spine. Two gilt-edged fabric ties with copper clasps. Text in Japanese. Illustrated throughout with rich color and monochrome photographs printed on heavy coated stock, many tipped-in. The album opens with a colophon leaf numbered 000058, denoting a limited, deluxe issue. Pages show some mild foxing to the margins and edges, but images remain vivid and unmarred. Binding square, solid, and bright, with only faint handling marks to the covers. A grand and dignified production in the tradition of official Imperial presentation volumes.
Issued to commemorate the golden wedding anniversary of Emperor Shōwa and Empress Kōjun, this limited-edition album records fifty years of Imperial life through finely printed photographs of ceremonies, family moments, and state occasions. Produced in small numbers for official and private distribution, it stands as a rare visual record of the Japanese monarchy during the mid-twentieth century.
Numbered copy 000058, from a limited, privately issued series, likely intended for presentation or restricted circulation among government and Imperial affiliates.
