Bright green cloth boards with Tolkien's designs in black with black lettering. Cloth boards have light fading in places. Binding is solid- tight with no issues. Dust jacket is very well preserved with no tears or frays on front, and only slight fraying on back top. Some yellowing on spine. It is unclipped. Leaves have consistent age toning. No tears, marks or writing on leaves. 

Beautiful second edition copy of this iconic book, originally published in 1937, with the original dust jacket design by Tolkien.
