Betty Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique (1963) is a landmark in modern feminist thought and a catalyst for the second wave of feminism. Exposing what she called “the problem that has no name,” Friedan challenged the belief that women could find complete fulfillment only in domestic life. The book struck a nerve, giving voice to the frustrations of countless women and sparking widespread debate about gender roles in postwar America.
Its influence was profound: selling millions of copies, inspiring grassroots activism, and shaping conversations on employment, education, and reproductive rights. First editions of The Feminine Mystique are enduring artifacts of a social movement that shaped history. Store case 5. Very Good / Very Good +. Item #142
