The Sailor's Pocket Book
Portsmouth: Griffin & Co., The Hard, 1877. Third Edition, Revised and Enlarged. Hardcover with mylar. This is a rare, 19th century Naval manual called "The Sailor's Pocket Book" by captain F.G.D. Bedford of the Royal Navy that is in near very good condition. This book features charts, graphs, rules, and notes on sailing for members of official navies, mercantile fleets, and independent yachters. All of the charts and text is very cleanly preserved and legible, indicating it is a very good piece to peer into 19th century logistics and the ancient art of sailing. The cover has some minor lightening on the edges, and the internal book has some age as well as some staining on a portion of the pages, but it is very readable and usable as a manual or reference point. 525 pages. SC4. Near Very Good. Item #132
