Binding square and firm; black cloth clean and spine gilt bright, with only minor rubbing and handling wear. Interior generally clean with mild age-toning. Jacket bright and complete, with light rubbing, scattered small surface abrasions, and minor edgewear at spine ends and corners; foxing and spotting along upper and lower margins of front flap. No restoration apparent.
The first collection devoted to Manly Wade Wellman's celebrated Appalachian hero John the Balladeer. A wandering singer armed with a silver-strung guitar, John encounters witches, ghosts, demons, ancient creatures, and the deeply rooted folklore of the Southern mountains. Wellman's fusion of Appalachian folk tradition, supernatural fiction, and distinctly American vernacular storytelling made the Silver John cycle one of the most original achievements in twentieth-century weird fiction.
