An uncommon Welsh-American biography documenting the life and writings of Robert Everett (1791–1875), the Welsh-born Congregational member, editor, temperance advocate, and outspoken abolitionist who emigrated to New York in 1823 and became an influential figure in the Welsh-American religious press. Everett founded Y Cenhadwr Americanaidd in 1840 and used his publications to campaign against slavery as well as for temperance. Published by his family only four years after his death, the volume notably dedicates itself to supporters of equal freedom for all, "black and white," as well as to temperance and Christian reform.
